Treasure Island San Francisco is one of the famous tourist destinations. It's also a favorite among the locals for watching the sunset ;).

Directions: If you are driving, Treasure Island can be reached from the Bay Bridge or the I-80 (interstate 80). Take the exit to Treasure Island/Yerba Buena on the left lane.

If taking public transportation, take the MUNI 108 bus. A terminal can be found in downtown San Francisco in Howard and Beale Streets.

More on Treasure Island San Francisco...

Treasure Island San Francisco is connected to the Yerba Buena Island. Both islands can be found in between the SF-Oakland Bay Bridge.

It was initially built to act as an airport back in the days (1930's), then served as a Naval Base.

Now, the island is a popular attraction and recreation center. At times, festivals, fairs, etc... are held here.

The Treasure Island has also been in several films/movies. The Administrative Building across the shoreline was initially built for fairs but is sometimes used as a prop setting in several films such as the Indiana Jones, The Parent Trap, and Flubber.

What is there to do in Treasure Island?

There may not be much to do in Treasure Island San Francisco, but...quality certainly beats quantity :).

Your experience here will certainly be a memorable one because of the amazing views you'll see!

Aside form the amazing view of the bay waters, you'll also enjoy the amazing views of the skyscrapers of San Francisco city, and the Bay Bridge.

I definitely suggest you watch the sunset here in Treasure Island as the view is absolutely beautiful!

There are always hotdog stands and coffee/hot cocoa stands nearby so you won't grow cold and hungry :).

There's also a mini-shop/store across the street where you can buy other snacks, and use their restroom if you need to.

You can even just park along the shores and have a little date watching the sunset while drinking hot cocoa! Simple, but sweet!

My Experience with Treasure Island San Francisco

When you're on the freeway, make sure you pay attention to the exit because it's easy to miss! We almost missed it, haha.

We went here around late afternoon, like 4-5pm. I must warn you, even though we went during the summer, it was still pretty cold and windy here, so always bring a jacket!

My boyfriend brought me here one day to just take a bunch of pictures. We brought our tripod, camera, bought some popcorn, hot cocoa, and hotdogs and called it a date!

I really enjoyed it because I like scenic views! Especially with good company and when I have some hot drinks and food to go with it, hehe.

The whole place is really beautiful. From the bay view to the building and ruin-looking buildings across the shore. Looked all historical and stuff, lol.

Parking wasn't really a problem at Treasure Island San Francisco, but we did go at an early time (it gets packed during later hours as people are trying to catch the sunset). It was free, too!

Overall, I think you'll really enjoy it and you'll find yourself experiencing a piece of good ol' San Francisco :).

The only bad thing I can think about this place is that it can get pretty cold, and the restroom is kind of difficult to access (the employee in the little shop across the shore gave us a bit of a hard time, making us buy something first prior to using it >_<).

    See you around,

    Quick Tip

Bring a sweater, a camera, a tripod, and some water!

Like I said, I really stress the fact that it's windy over there! So please bring a jacket. And during the night, if you'd like to capture an awesome picture of the bridge and the city, bring a tripod!

And the water they sell at those little food stands can go from 1-3$ so I suggest you bring some water bottles of your own to save some money! :)
